Review highlights

Based on 201 reviews

Choo's Kitchen @ Sunway 163 Mall is praised for its generous portions and expertly roasted meats, particularly the roast duck and pork, which are frequently highlighted for their crisp skin and juicy texture. Its signature dishes, such as combination BBQ meats and wantan mee, are well-received for their quality and flavor. Customers appreciate the clean environment, although some find the space a bit cramped. While most dishes receive positive feedback, certain vegetable offerings like sambal belacan kangkong occasionally draw comments on texture and preparation. Complimentary touches, such as serving soups, add to the dining experience. Overall, the restaurant is regarded as a reliable choice for traditional Chinese flavors with room for minor improvements in vegetable dishes and seating comfort.

We have frequently had our meals at this restaurant over the years, since their first opening at 163, but uncertain whether I have written any reviews about this restaurant. Food wise for our recent dinner for three: Three combination BBQ meat - won’t go wrong. Delicious and generous serving. Sambal belacan kangkong - a bit over fried and vegetables texture turned soft. Could be improved. Sichuan ‘ma po’ bean curd with minced pork - quite good. The restaurant offers complimentary herbal soup and ‘guilinggao’, with the former always tastes great but the latter tends to be lack of the ‘QQ’ feel and texture. The value lunch sets - a sure win if you are there for lunches. Service - the long serviced staff knew us and always a pleasure to catch up with them. Environment - nothing fanciful but definitely more spacious than their Bangsar Village outlet. Overall - will always return to the 163 outlet.

First time in this restaurant. Atmosphere: Clean, feels a little cramped. We were pleasantly greeted with 2 bowls of complimentary soup ( we are 2 pax) Food, we had a total of 4 dishes & 1 basic noodle, 1. Chicken & Cordyceps Flowers: Large dish with generous amount of Cordyceps. Strongly advised to serve with rice. 2. Dry Noodles: Very Q to the bite. Very good. 3. Crispy Milk Rolls: Very Crispy, not too sweet. But too oily. 4. Roast Duck Set Lunch: For RM 25.90, it comes with duck drumstick, rice, a teacup of steam egg, crunchy snack, and dry longan drink. It's not only value for money, but it's excellent effort and taste, especially the duck. 5. Wasabi King Prawns: Voluptuous prawns nicely deep-fried and tossed with in-house wasabi sauce. It's really good. Overall, I will visit again, especially for lunch

The roast duck and roast pork were very good. Crispy skin with juicy meats. The char siew noodles were springy and had a very good texture. A little sweet for my liking but overall ok. The salted fish beehoon was tasty but could afford a bit more salted fish. Veg was ok. Was a little cramp.

Came here for dinner. Didn’t realise it was part of the same chain as Village Duck. We weren’t that hungry so had fried ‘seaweed’ (which is really kale) and shared half a Peking duck with pancakes. We each had an iced Chinese tea. The ‘seaweed’ was OK - tasty but a bit greasy. However, the Peking duck was excellent. Tasty with all the bits and pieces (cucumber, spring onions, hoisin sauce and off course pancakes). The staff were friendly and attentive. Price was reasonable too. Overall, a good dinner and we will be back!

I ordered their signature double meat dish—roasted pork and roasted duck breast—and it was truly impressive. The portion size was generous, with at least 6 to 7 cubes of roasted pork that were perfectly crispy, with just the right balance of fat and lean meat. The roasted duck was expertly prepared, roasted to perfection with minimal fat. The wantan mee was tender and springy, complementing the meats beautifully. I’ll definitely be returning for a second visit!

Back here again, love the duck and crispy skin roasted pork belly, the service was fast and good, efficient and not pushing. But it’s sad to see they closed down, … and here we lost our only Chinese Cantonese restaurant food wonder what is going on, the business is there many regular and expat like it … am here on their last night to say thank you for serving us and good bye to those friendly staffs .. to both Chinese ladies supervisor and their fantastic team member. Thank you for serving us.

Nicely designed restaurant. Spacious and clean. We visited twice. Tried dishes and noodles. The food was excellent. Appertizer, roast pork and char siu, spinach were great. The roast peking duck was not what we expected. Prefer crispier ones for the wraps. Dry wanton noodles was not springy type. Service was great the first time. The waiter was very attentive. For our second visit, the waitress was quite aloof. It was after lunch hour and she seemed uninterested in taking orders.
